How to beat the Swine Prince
Kill the Swine Prince first and leave Wilbur alive. Wilbur Marks heroes so the Prince can use high-damage attacks, but damaging Wilbur triggers Enraged Destruction against the whole party. If Wilbur dies early, the Prince uses that attack every round. Focus the large target, clear Marks when possible, and finish Wilbur only after the Prince falls.
The safe exception is a skill that affects Wilbur without dealing damage, such as an appropriate Stun. Do not use uncontrolled area damage or Riposte when it can clip Wilbur.
Build the party around Mark control
Arbalest or Musketeer is the most direct answer because Rallying Flare can clear Mark and Stun from allies other than herself. Add a healer or damage reducer, then two heroes who can sustain single-target damage into the Prince's front-three-rank body.
A practical role shell is Arbalest/Musketeer, Occultist or Vestal, Houndmaster or Bounty Hunter, and Hellion, Leper, or another durable front attacker. This is not a universal best team: verify each equipped skill and make sure the party still protects the Arbalest when she is the Marked target.
Skills and damage plan
The Prince has no PROT, while Bleed and Blight remain realistic options at the matching quest level. Direct damage, Mark payoff, and damage debuffs all work. Houndmaster benefits from the Beast target and can Guard; Bounty Hunter converts a party Mark plan into burst; Occultist and Leper can reduce incoming damage with repeated debuffs.
Do not use Highwayman's Duelist's Advance or another Riposte setup unless you can guarantee Wilbur will not attack that hero. A counterattack that hits Wilbur follows the same danger rule as a deliberate damaging attack.
Turn-by-turn priority
On each round, read who Wilbur Marked. Clear the dangerous Mark when possible, Guard or heal the exposed hero when it is not, and spend the remaining actions damaging or debuffing the Prince. Do not waste the whole round chasing Wilbur; his Marks are dangerous because of the Prince, so ending the Prince is the actual win condition.
After the Prince dies, the quest is complete. Wilbur changes to a weak party attack with Stun potential. Kill him if the party is stable, or leave the completed fight rather than losing a hero during unnecessary cleanup.
Provisions and common failures
Bring normal Warrens provisions plus Holy Water for resistance before the boss and enough healing support for a large damage spike. Accuracy and damage trinkets speed the race; Stun resistance is useful because Wilbur can interrupt the action needed to clear a Mark or heal.
The common failures are killing Wilbur first, allowing area attacks to touch him, enabling Riposte without checking his target, and assuming a healer can recover from repeated doubled damage against Marked heroes. Fix the trigger, not only the missing health.
Runaway and Duelist after Fire's Edge
Runaway can contribute direct damage and Burn to the Prince, but avoid a button whose targeting or movement makes Wilbur an accidental target. Her reduced Retail 27987 HP also makes an unmitigated marked hit harder to absorb.
Duelist has strong single-target reach, but her Riposte identity conflicts with the fight's central safety rule. Use her only with a non-Riposte plan or strict control over which enemy can trigger the counter. A straightforward front attacker is easier for a first clear.
Sources and editorial boundary
Wilbur's Mark behavior, Enraged Destruction trigger, boss defenses, and quest completion are checked against the maintained Swine Prince data page. The role shell and turn priority are editorial recommendations derived from those mechanics, not copied encounter text.
