What Darkest Dungeon Fire's Edge Districts add
The quick answer: build Académie Duello for permanent Riposte support, Craftworks for a random trinket each week, or Archaeological Base Camp for weekly heirlooms. Retail 27987 reduces Craftworks to 75 Busts and Base Camp to 90 Busts, while Académie now grants +10 Riposte ACC instead of Riposte damage.
These are original-game Hamlet projects that require The Fire's Edge. They compete for estate resources and a Blueprint, so the best first choice depends on whether the next campaign bottleneck is combat consistency, trinket access, or heirlooms.
The confirmed District names
The three names are Académie Duello, Craftworks, and Archaeological Base Camp. The current District table lists Académie at 300 Crests, 25 Deeds, and one Blueprint; Craftworks at 75 Busts, 25 Portraits, and one Blueprint; and Base Camp at 15,000 Gold, 90 Busts, and one Blueprint.
Académie gives all Ripostes +10 ACC and +3 DODGE, plus +1 SPD to the Duelist. Craftworks grants one random trinket each week. Base Camp grants one randomly selected heirloom bundle each week. These are persistent estate benefits, not temporary expedition buffs.
What “new bounties” actually confirms
Craftworks is the direct choice when roster growth has outpaced the trinket collection: it creates another weekly acquisition route but does not guarantee a particular rarity. Base Camp is the economy choice when building upgrades are blocked by heirlooms; its result is random, so do not budget around receiving one exact type.
Choose the reward District only if repeated weekly value matters more than an immediate combat bonus. A late campaign with adequate trinkets may prefer Base Camp; an early roster with weak equipment may obtain more practical value from Craftworks.
Damage boosts need a live tooltip check
Académie Duello is the combat choice, but it no longer adds +15% Riposte damage. Retail 27987 replaces that launch effect with +10 Riposte ACC; the maintained District data also lists +3 DODGE on Riposte and +1 SPD for the Duelist.
That makes Académie most valuable when the roster already uses Riposte repeatedly—Man-at-Arms, Highwayman, or Duelist plans—rather than as a generic damage upgrade. Accuracy improves whether the counterattack connects; it does not increase the damage of a hit that already lands.
How to choose a District without a fabricated tier list
Use a simple rule: choose Académie for a committed Riposte roster, Craftworks for weekly equipment depth, or Base Camp for long-term upgrade resources. Then compare the listed cost with the next Blacksmith, Guild, or Sanitarium upgrade you would delay.
There is no universal first pick because a District purchase has an opportunity cost. Do not spend the estate's last heirlooms for a passive weekly reward when a core hero upgrade is the more immediate campaign constraint.
Relationship to the new heroes and trinkets
The same release that adds the Districts also adds the Runaway, the Duelist, Burn, new trinket mechanics, and town events. That shared release context does not prove that any District is required for a new hero or that a particular trinket comes from a specific project. Those connections are unverified unless the live game names them directly.
This distinction prevents a common launch-week error: treating several additions announced together as one mandatory progression chain. Read each current screen independently. If the game displays a prerequisite linking a District to a roster or item, record the wording and the version before relying on it for a guide.
Platform and version boundaries
Fire's Edge released on August 18, 2026, and the official announcement names Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, PlayStation, Xbox, and a later Nintendo Switch release date. Store availability and post-launch fixes can differ by platform. A District screen or reward wording should therefore be checked on the platform where you are playing.
The launch communication also described fixes for town activity-log and graveyard strings on some platforms, with others still in progress at that time. That note does not specifically change District behavior, but it is a reminder that launch-state interface text can be corrected later. Use the newest official notice and the live Hamlet UI if an entry looks absent or inconsistent.
A repeatable verification checklist
When you unlock or inspect a Fire's Edge District, record its exact name, prerequisite text, stated cost, reward wording, and any timing language shown in your build. Then distinguish what the interface confirms from what a community post merely predicts. This gives you a usable estate note without inventing a reward table.
The Retail 27987 hotfix is the primary source for the changed costs and Académie effect. The maintained District data table supplies the complete costs and persistent effects. Last reviewed September 14, 2026.
